Richard “Dick” McClure, 83, passed away peacefully while holding his wife's hand, on Thursday, November 21, 2019. He was born in Clovis, New Mexico to Raymond and Lorraine (Cumbie) McClure and older brother, Bill, on July 1, 1936. Dick attended Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Linda, on a blind date. They celebrated 58 years of marriage and were blessed with son, Paul, and daughter, Melissa. He served in the Army National Guard in 1961/1962, was a faithful member of Plymouth Park United Methodist church since 1974. He worked in the jewelry and retail industry as a Credit Manager at Zale’s and Levine’s for 10 plus years each. After his retirement, driving the Baylor Irving hospital volunteer van was rewarding to Dick. He was an avid golfer who loved nature and especially sunsets. He was a devoted son, father and husband with a loving, kind heart who was there when others needed him. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Linda McClure, son Paul McClure and daughter Melissa McClure. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Plymouth Park United Methodist Church funds, a Parkinson's fund, or a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation with a private family interment to be held later at Restland in Dallas.

Uncle Dick was a very special man and I will miss him greatly. He was very intelligent, quick witted, compassionate and kind! He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very positive person! I'll never forget when I was working one summer and having a difficult time. He told me that his job was in the complaint department, so his interaction was with people who were upset all day long. He said that I needed to focus on what I could do and learn what I could but let everything else go. Although I was a very shy, and awkward child, he always made me feel good about myself and I enjoyed being around him. He had a peaceful nature about him and this verse reminds me of him: "Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:6-7 So- if you knew Dick you will understand this: Uncle Dick you are Dynomite! Love and miss you very much,
Mary Pundt West, niece
