Obituary for Richard "Dick" McClure

Richard “Dick” McClure, 83, passed away peacefully while holding his wife's hand, on Thursday, November 21, 2019. He was born in Clovis, New Mexico to Raymond and Lorraine (Cumbie) McClure and older brother, Bill, on July 1, 1936. Dick attended Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Linda, on a blind date. They celebrated 58 years of marriage and were blessed with son, Paul, and daughter, Melissa. He served in the Army National Guard in 1961/1962, was a faithful member of Plymouth Park United Methodist church since 1974. He worked in the jewelry and retail industry as a Credit Manager at Zale’s and Levine’s for 10 plus years each. After his retirement, driving the Baylor Irving hospital volunteer van was rewarding to Dick. He was an avid golfer who loved nature and especially sunsets. He was a devoted son, father and husband with a loving, kind heart who was there when others needed him. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Linda McClure, son Paul McClure and daughter Melissa McClure. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Plymouth Park United Methodist Church funds, a Parkinson's fund, or a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation with a private family interment to be held later at Restland in Dallas.
