Geraldine “Jerry” Evelyn McKay passed away peacefully December 9, 2020 in Irving, Texas at the age of 91. She was born December 17, 1928, to father, Lovell Lane and mother, Eva Antle Lane, in Denoya, Oklahoma, also known as Whizbang.

Jerry grew up on the plains of Northern Oklahoma during the early pre depression oil boom years. With her sister, Lyda, she would gallop her horse, Trixie, across the prairie land with the Oklahoma winds blowing across her face. She attended grammar school in Greyhorse, which is, today, a ghost town. Her father was employed with the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company and was able to stay employed during the depression. Her family was able to escape many of the pitfalls of the depression.

She attended high school in Ponca City, Oklahoma and was elected Wildcat Homecoming Queen in 1946. She went on to attend Northern Oklahoma Jr College in Tonkawa where she was again elected Homecoming Queen.

Jerry married John McKay, also from Ponca City, in 1949. Together, they travelled across Holdenville, Oklahoma; Irving, Texas; Ruidoso, Tularosa and Mescalero, New Mexico; and Edmond, Oklahoma raising four kids, Tip, Mike, Karla and John Christopher along the way. Jerry, John and the family eventually ended up in Irving where they remained for the rest of her life.

While in New Mexico, Jerry picked up her brushes again and returned to painting. She worked in oils. Her skills and talents grew, and her artistic abilities produced numerous paintings reflecting her perspectives of life. She was an active member of the Irving Arts League for many years.

Jerry is preceded in death by her son, Mike McKay; mother, Eva Lane; father, Lovell Lane; sisters: Lyda Tooman, and Linda DeMoss. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 71 years, John McKay; daughter, Karla Munroe and husband Clifton; son, Tip McKay and wife Jerry; son, John Christopher Kirk McKay and wife Debra; grandchildren: Cody McKay and wife Courtney, Chris McKay, Cari McKay Flurry and husband Blaine, Justin Munroe and wife Mandy, Mitch Munroe and Aide Peralta, Ryan Munroe and wife Catherine, Kyler McKay, and Kyra McKay; great grandchildren: Dylan McKay, Berlin Flurry, Olivia Munroe, Gabriel Munroe, Avery Munroe, Cayden Munroe, Evie Mae Munroe, and Grayson Munroe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss Jerry dearly.

She will be interred at the National Cemetery in Dallas.
