Obituary

Emma Ruth Brown, known affectionately by her family and friends as “Boosh,” died peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 94 years of age. She was born in Goree, Texas to George William and Maude (Ashton) Kincaid on Tuesday, November 11, 1924. Boosh possessed the qualities of a saint. She had a strong faith that was manifested in the many ways she loved and cared for others. Boosh was both a very loving wife and nurturing mother, who invested much time and energy into the lives of her family. She had a soft and gentle demeanor and was a very gracious hostess to others. To know her was to love her. She was dignified and refined, yet always maintained a friendly and welcoming presence that drew people to her. She is lovingly remembered for always being happy and full of laughter. Boosh was beautiful inside and out and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Maude Kincaid, husband James M. Brown, sister Lela Staderman and brothers Marvin, Lee, and Gene Kincaid. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Carol L. Brown; son James M. Brown Jr. and wife Christy; son Robert D. Brown; grandchildren James, Kathy, Daniel, Adrienne, Alex and Nicole; great grandchildren Robyn and Jayden, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 211 W. 3rd Street in Irving at 11:00am on October 29, 2019 with an interment to follow at Oak lawn Cemetery in Decatur, Texas at 3:00pm. The family requests memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church at https://www.fumcirving.org/giving/
