Obituary for Eddy Sass

Eddy Sass, age 86, died on Thursday, May 30, 2019. Eddy was born on January 15, 1933 in Germany. Eddy immigrated to the United States when he was eighteen in an effort to escape the Nazi persecution of WWII. He fled over seas on the USS General A. W. Greely. Eddy built a life and family as a naturalized citizen in the states. He was a hard worker and taught his children to be strong and to work hard for themselves. Eddy worked for forty years as a wall paperer, first for Fox & Jacobs and then Centex before retiring in 1995. He was a dedicated employee and received recognition for twenty-five years of loyal service to Fox & Jacobs, with a street named in his honor “Eddy Sass Court”. Even after retirement, he went on to work part-time for an independent contractor for several years. Eddy loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing or working in the backyard garden. Prior to his death, he had been tending his vegetable garden. Eddy is preceded in death by his sister Dora and brothers Fred, Kurt, and Harold. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-one years Melva. Daughter Edie Stephens and husband John, daughter Vickie Brown; son Eddy Sass Jr and wife Cynthia. Brother Gerhard Sass and wife Louise; brother Wolfgang Sass; sister Trudy Pearson, sister Gisela Chandler and husband Johnny. Grandchildren Jeff Brown and wife Kimberly; Jeremy Brown and wife Tiffany; Jason Brown and wife Sue Ann; Joshua Brown and wife Amanda; Nickolas Stephens and Amanda Stephens.
