Obituary for Troy Willie Claggs Jr.

Mr. Troy Willie Claggs, Jr., age 36, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, in Bedford, Texas after his two-year battle with kidney cancer. Troy was born to Mr. Troy Willie Claggs, Sr and Ms. Lizzie Mae Brown, on Monday, September 19, 1983, in Elaine, Arkansas. Troy attended Arlington, Texas schools and graduated from Lamar High School in 2002, where he was a member of the Vikings football team. Troy later moved to Washington DC area where he pursued a career in culinary.

Troy was a loving and compassionate son, brother, uncle and friend. Troy loved traveling, high fashion, good food and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a beloved co-worker to so many during his tenure at the Spirit of Washington, Cosi, Au Bon Pain Cafe, Smoothie King, and Republic Health Resources. Troy's infectious smile and laugh warmed the coldest heart. He will be truly missed by everyone.

Troy is survived by his father, Troy Willie Claggs, Sr., mother, Lizzie Mae Claggs; his big sister and brother-in-law, Veronica and Norvin Williamson; his little brother and wife, Charlie and Amanda Claggs; his loving and dedicated partner, Patrick James; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth H. Brown; his uncle and aunt Calvin and Glenda Claggs, his uncle, John Brown; one nephew, Khalid Kimani Taylor; and three nieces, Khadijah Allani Taylor, Madalyne Claggs and Hailey Mae Claggs.

As well as a whole host of cousins, his adoptive sister LaSheika Mayfield, his good friend Irma James, his mother-in-law, Cynny James and his extend Washington DC family, Yusef A. Taylor, Gale Newton, Kimberly Hinton, Eustis T. Morgan. Troy leaves behind countless friends, co-workers, and teammates.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you make a donation in Troy's name to the American Cancer Society to continue the fight against cancer.
