Thelma Maurine (Faires) Robins, age 79, entered Heavens Gates on Saturday, June 22, 2019. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Roy Jackson and Ruth Ellen (Kinnard) Faires on Wednesday, March 6, 1940. Thelma, previously from Seagoville, had been a resident of Irving for over sixty years and was a longtime Baptist. She worked for the Irving ISD food services, which she enjoyed very much for 25 years, until her retirement. Thelma was a giving person, who enjoyed doing for others, and loved her family above all. Her family fondly remembers how she would make clothes and Halloween costumes for all of the kids and grandkids, and she would happily bake and cook for friends and family, whether it be a holiday, a family reunion or just another regular day. In her spare time Thelma was known to sit back and enjoy reading a good book. She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Ruth Faires, husband of over 50 years Bonnie Lee Robins, brothers Bert Faires, Truman Faires, Wayne Faires and Jackson Faires. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Tricia Robins; son Ron Robins and wife Shelley; granddaughter Julie Stephenson and husband Will; grandson Jeff Robins; great grandchildren Kailen, Max, Avery and Renessmae; brother Tom Faires and wife Marg; brother Ray Faires and wife Shirley; sister Kay Bullock; sister Elaine Morgan; sister Nancy Whitmore and husband John; sister Margie Gerdes and husband Scott along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held 10:00am, June 26, 2019 also at the funeral home with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
