Obituary

Shirley Greenfield died peacefully the evening of Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 82 years of age. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Leonard Gaston and Pearl Ruth (Tucker) Fielder on Friday, July 2, 1937. Shirley was a loving and devoted mother, homemaker and professional volunteer who is loved by so many.
After high school she attended the North Texas State College, became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and traveled the world. Later, she served as the church secretary for Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving but spent most of time between volunteering opportunities being wife, mother and homemaker.
She loved to help others, giving of herself for so many years by service on different committees and functions at First Christian Church, school PTAs and the Reach to Recovery unit with the American Cancer Society. Shirley was recognized by multiple associations for her generosity and loving kindness, and the positive effect it had in making life better for others. A few awards had been presented including the 2003 Macy’s Heart & Soul Award for Excellence in fighting Breast Cancer, the Dallas Cowboys Community Quarterback Award and the Terese Lasser Award from the American Cancer Society. Waiting to greet her at Heaven’s Gates were her parents and beloved husband of 59 years, Don Greenfield. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Donna Williams and husband Todd; daughter Susan Hall and husband Russell; grandchildren Austin, Garrett, Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Joshua, as well as numerous extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the family has chosen to wait and schedule a memorial service at a later date, so that all family and friends may be able to attend. Please continue to check back for updated service date and time. The family request memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the American Cancer Society by clicking the links below.
