Obituary for R.J. West

R.J. West, having lived a long and fulfilling life, died at the age of 90, on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. He was born in Farmersville, Texas to Raymond Johnnie Sr. and Irene (Kemp) West on Tuesday, September 10, 1928. R.J. was a longtime member and Deacon of Westside Church of Christ in Irving. He worked 25 years as Chief Plumbing Inspector for the City of Irving until his retirement in 1993. R.J enjoyed horses and was a former member of the Golden Triangle Saddle Club back in the day. His favorite times where taking cruises with his late wife Audrey and listening to bluegrass music. The family fondly reminisces how he and Audrey would spend Saturday nights reconnecting with friends at the old Johnny Highs Theatre in Arlington, then daddy would take momma home for some late-night romancing. R.J. Is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Audrey Eura West, sister Lois Moore and both parents. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Vicki Lindsey; daughter Trudy James; daughter Pam Mackie and husband Rick; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; brother David West and wife Faye; brother Tommy West; sister Edith Profit and husband Wayne along with numerous extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 7:00 and 9:00pm, Monday, June 24, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2019 also at the funeral home, with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
