Obituary

Pete Abadie, a resident in Irving for 60 years, passed away at 94 years of age on Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Octave August and Concetta Cecile (Romano) Abadie on Thursday, October 14, 1926.

Pete proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, after his service he continued to serve our Country in the U.S. Army Reserves where he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He also worked for the Burroughs Corporation as a Computer Installer for 35 years before he retired in 1985. Pete and his wife Peggy were charter members of the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, where he was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus.

Pete had attended LSU Business School prior to joining the Army, so during the football season you could always find him watching and cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers from the easy chair. In his retirement Pete enjoyed playing golf, travelling with his wife and their many good friends on numerous cruises as well as to foreign countries for vacation.

Pete is preceded in death by his Parents August and Concetta Abadie and his only sibling John, a member of the U.S. Marines.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 72 years, Peggy; son Retired USAF Major Jim Abadie and wife, Margie; son David Abadie and wife Tracy; daughter Debbie Abadie; daughter Susan Tanton and husband Russell; daughter Catherine Winter and husband Stan as well as 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and numerous extended family and loving friends.

The Family would like to acknowledge the care and attention Pete received from the Staff at MacArthur Hills Senior Living Also Latasha and Ray from Dallas Hospice.
The family are to receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving between 3:00 and 4:00pm. A funeral service will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, 2323 Cheyenne St. in Irving. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn. Creek Pkwy in Dallas at 1:00pm that same day.

Your dad was so special . We loved stopping by and visiting when we lived in Irving. Mike and Pete loved talking golf. He will be dearly missed!

we are next door neighbors to Pete and Peggy. Love them so much. Several times I took Peggy to Macarthur Hills to see Pete and enjoy some Singers that came monthly. They were very kind to our granddaughters also.
