Obituary for Pastor Robert Corser

Robert “Bob” E. Corser, passed through those pearly gates at 74 years of age on the morning of Monday, June 29, 2020, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. He was born in Emporia, Kansas to Myron Merrill, Sr. and Sylva Iotha (Hucke) Corser on Tuesday, December 22, 1945. Robert followed God’s calling as a Minister, faithfully serving for 50 years as a Pastor of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, which includes serving 40 years as senior pastor at Joy fellowship in Irving, TX until his retirement in 2017. During his time as a pastor up until his passing, Robert served as mentor, counselor, prayer warrior, and friend to many. Outside of the church, Robert served many rolls in the Irving community throughout his 41 years. He conducted invocation at the City Hall Council Meetings, participated in parades for the City of Irving during the Holiday Extravaganza and the Fourth of July, was assistant Chaplain at Baylor Medical Center (now Baylor Scott and White of Irving), was a volunteer and supporter of the Irving Independent School District and led a Bible Study for a group of seniors at Park Grove Village. Robert was a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, where he served two non-consecutive 6 year terms, he was also a member of the Advisory Council at the Senter Park Recreational Center, the Irving Cares Board, and the SIPOA (South Irving Property Owners Association). As Robert is now rejoicing in Heaven and “His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” he leaves behind, his beloved wife of 52 years Joan Corser; son Rob Corser and wife Erica; daughter Gina Corser; granddaughter Brynn Corser as well as extended family such as brothers: Carl Corser, and John Corser; sisters: Elaine Mcafferty, and Karen Bleicher; stepmother, Georgia Corser and loving friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Myron Corser, and Stephen Corser. A graveside service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd. A viewing will be available 30 minutes prior to the graveside for attendees observing the safe distancing and face mask order.
A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Fellowship, 475 E. Oates Rd. in Garland on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 4:00pm; the service will be streaming via Facebook live on New Hope Fellowship Garlands Facebook page by clicking here
