Olga Nell Hughes, age 91, died after a long and fulfilling life on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Robert N. and Minnie Ellen (Hill) Loyd on Friday, November 18, 1927. Olga was a 50-year resident of Irving, and prior to that she lived in Grand Prairie. She was a loving and nurturing woman, as it showed through her work as an LVN. Olga worked as head nurse at the Irving nursing homes and at the Methodist Medical Center in Dallas for 35 years, before her retirement in 1993. During her free time Olga enjoyed fishing and gambling. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward Hughes. Left to cherish her memory are sons David Hughes, Lynn Hughes, Paul Hughes and Edward Hughes Jr.; daughter Elaine Hamilton; daughter Tonya Leija; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 nephews and nieces along with numerous extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, Monday, June 17, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd.
