Nelda Ann Blake, age 78, of Irving, Texas passed away August 4, 2020 in Carrollton, Texas. She was born to father J.B. Wells, and mother Eva Read Wells November 3, 1941 in Abilene, Texas. Nelda married the love of her life, Orville Blake, and spent 53 wonderful years with him. She was a professional secretary in various industries throughout her career. Nelda loved to shop and dine out - she especially enjoyed Chinese food. She enjoyed going to art shows and traveling with her sisters. Nelda loved musical theater. When the boys were young, they used to have Saturday morning cleanup and she played “Paint Your Wagon” as loud as she could while the kids tried to figure out how to get out of helping clean house – she had a great sense of humor. She was thrilled to become a grandmother; she was a surrogate mother to every kid in the neighborhood. She had many passions but being with family brought her the most joy. Nelda was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, and mother.

Nelda is preceded in death by her husband, Orville Blake; father, J.B. Wells; mother, Eva Read Wells; and sister, Joyce Josey. She is survived by sons, Randy Blake, and wife Kim; Brian Blake and wife Rosie; sister, Rita Ellsberg; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends who will miss Nelda greatly.

A family viewing will be held at 3:00p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. Irving TX, 75061. Public graveside service for Nelda will be held at 10:00a.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Oak Grove Memorial Park 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Irving TX, 75060.
