Obituary for Nancy Alexander (Cashon)

Nancy Alexander passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 92 years of age. She was born in Pilot Point, Texas to Lester Claud and Ellis Elizabeth (Herndon) Cashon on Friday, October 28, 1927. While working at a bank in Grand Prairie, Nancy met the love of her life Charles and they married on August 16, 1954. The newlyweds spent 14 years in Lubbock before moving to Irving, where they spent 39 years, followed by 6 years in Frisco, before her final move to Athens where she spent the last five years of her life. In 2004 Nancy and Charlie returned to Nancy’s hometown Celina, Texas to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Nancy was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Before the digital era, she spent many hours, days and years researching and created an extensive family genealogical record that dates back to the pre-colonial period. Nancy excelled in all areas that she chose to place her time and effort into. She was an expert seamstress and quilter and an excellent book reviewer of both the historical and inspirational genre. She also taught Sunday School, lead study groups and bible studies which she enjoyed very much. Nancy, throughout many years of her life and during her walk with God, had journaled, made notes, and documented her thoughts, feelings and ideas. Much later in life, God’s plan for Nancy and her writings came to light and in 2013 she originally published her first book, (republished 2016 Westbow Press) A Walk in the Garden: A Collection of Spiritual Analogies and Truths. Although her walk here on earth has come to an end, the legacy she has left behind will carry on. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charlies K. Alexander and sister Dorothy Stambaugh. Left to cherish her memory are son David Alexander and wife Sandra; daughter Kay Alexander and husband Ronnie; grandson Stefan Bauzon; granddaughter Evyn Alexander; brothers Richardson Cashon and Robert Cashon; sisters Patsy Johnson and Jane Willard as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
