Mariolyn Johnson, lovingly known as “Ma”, “Grandma”, and “Gigi”, peacefully passed from this life, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, April 19, 2019. Mariolyn was born in Temple, Texas on June 28, 1932 to Bernice (Asbury) Chandler and John K. Chandler. Mariolyn loved her family and served them well throughout the years as a homemaker. Family was always number one in her eyes. She loved doting on her grandkids and cherished every moment she had with them. Mariolyn was caring, loved her animals, enjoyed her flowers and gardens, was talented with cross stitch and crafting. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and creating with decoupage. Mariolyn was a great cook and always insisted on large family meals at every gathering. She enjoyed fishing with her cane pole, loved Knick knacks, especially Precious Moments. She found great peace and joy in watching the birds around her home and would let the squirrels have it for eating up their food. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband William Thomas Johnson; brothers James, David, John Jr., Dwight (Chandlers); sisters Catherine Young, Minnie Maynard, Doris Elliott, Francis Shaw; son John Ray Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are sons William E. Johnson (Billy), Carl Thomas Johnson and wife Jo; daughters Linda Johnson, Nancy Jordan; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous other nieces and nephews; as well as many other extended family and loving friends. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 22, 2019 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Mariolyn’s honor to a charity of your choice.
