Marilyn Markus died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 79 years of age. She was born in McAlester, Oklahoma to Walter Clayton and Mildred (Jordan) Treadwell on Saturday, February 10, 1940. Marilyn, a beautiful, strong and vibrant woman, would tell you she was blessed to have lived such a long and fulfilling life, and her happiest times were spent with her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends as a fierce and loyal daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who’s laughter and joi de vivre (love of life) will be sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Mildred. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Shawn Sikma and husband Jack; son Chris Strickland and wife Laura; daughter Stacy Mathers and husband Mike; 6 grandchildren; brother Tom Treadwell; loving friend Dennie Rayburn along with many other extended family and friends. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to UT Southwestern, Zale Lipshy Pavilion, Comprehensive Stroke Center in her memory.
