Obituary for Marietta Logan (McBride)

Marietta (Mary) McBride Logan, age 85, moved to her heavenly home Thursday, February 6, 2020. She was born April 1, 1934 in Norman, Arkansas to Francis McBride and Cora Petty McBride. Mary lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma as a small child, then moved to Dallas, Texas when she was 9 years old. She attended grade school at Nolia School near Nashoba, Oklahoma and Obadiah Knight Grade School in Dallas, Texas. She attended North Dallas High School in Dallas, Texas. Mary married Thomas Allen Torti in September 1949. They resided in Irving, Texas, in Midland, Texas, and then moved back to Dallas, Texas prior to his death. Mary and Tommy were blessed with two sons. After the death of her first husband, she married Fred Sass of Dallas, Texas and they bought a home in the Union Bower area of Irving where Mary lived until her death. Years after the death of her second husband, she married Willie Logan of Irving, Texas. Mary was a resident of Irving, Texas for over 60 years. Over the years of her adult life, Mary was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Irving, Texas, Puffin Biscuit Company in Dallas, Texas and many years at Zoecon Industries in Carrollton, Texas area. Mary was a member of Heritage Pentecostal Church of God, formerly First Pentecostal Church of God in Irving for over 55 years. Mary will always be remembered for her love of God and her family; her great strength to carry on through difficult times of life, and as a great woman of prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Alan Torti, second husband Fred Sass, third husband Willie Logan, her parents Francis and Cora McBride, brother Jackie Ray McBride, sister Helen McBride Cooper, and her youngest son Jackie Ray Torti. Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are: son Tommy Michael (Mike) Torti of Irving, Texas; sister Virginia McBride Huckaba of Irving, Texas; brothers Freddie McBride of Grapevine, Texas and Jimmie McBride of Irving, Texas; brother-in-law B.G. Torti of Athens, Texas; grandchildren Shannon Torti-Sortino and Mike Sortino of Nebraska, Greg Torti and Ticey Torti of Ennis, Texas, Kevin Torti and Chasity Torti of Haslet, Texas; great grandchildren Maddie Sortino, Anthony Torti, Dominic Torti, Braydon Torti, Caydence Torti and Caitlyn Torti; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 14 in the Chapel of Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas.
Rev. Robert Hudson, Rev. Jim Moore and Rev. Ronald Minor will be officiating. Interment to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas.
