Maria Eugenia Canas, age 92, died on Monday, September 9, 2019. Maria was born on February 6, 1927 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Luz (Hernandez) Canas and Manuel Canas. Maria loved to sing, especially church hymns. She enjoyed reading, particularly Christian novels. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Maria also found pleasure in dancing and listening to music. Those that were closest to her often would hear her say “Feliz Y Contenta” and “No me duele nada”. Maria was a woman of strong Christian faith and long-time member of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Irving. She loved her family and was a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Maria is preceded in death by her parents; spouse of fifteen years Alejandro Moreno; children Alejandro and Juan Carlos; brothers Victor and Tono; sisters Carmela and Tita Canas. Left to cherish her memory are children Norma Gil and husband Rene, Nelson Canas and wife Consepcion, Ada Luz Martinez and husband Rey, Zonia Garibay and husband Rene, Martha Canas, Jamie Canas; twelve grandkids; twenty great grandkids; sister Consuelo Canas; as well as many other extended family members and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the funeral home, immediately followed by an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75061.
