Obituary

Margaret M. Foster left her frail worldly body and began her joyous celebration with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 89 years of age. She was born in Coushatta, Louisiana to James Edward and Annie Jane (Meek) Long on Friday, September 4, 1931. Fast forward 30 years later, to a fall day in 1962, a day when love at first sight was made real for Margaret and Henry D. Foster. Three months later that same year, the two were united in marriage, and the journey of what is now their amazing legacy of love and family began. Every one that knew them, knew, and could feel the love between them. Margaret and Henry were best friends and the love of each other’s lives. They were very affectionate with each other, throughout their love, Margaret would often be found sitting in Henry’s lap, even when there was plenty of seating in the house. Years passed and both Margaret and Henry’s youth faded but their love remained fresh, young, and as strong as the first day they met. They always said I love you, kissed goodnight and even when it was physically difficult, they would cuddle, holding hands until they fell asleep. Margaret, If asked, would say, the biggest blessing and love was the family God abundantly blessed her with. She was often the peacekeeper amongst the family, to look into her eyes you would be met with whatever that situation called for, be it immense love, grace, kindness, forgiveness, or joy.
Margaret is lovingly remembered for the love and dedication for and to her family, as her family fruitfully grew, each grandchild was given a nickname and their own special song. Margaret put her love into her cooking as well and forever remembered for making the best cornbread and cornbread dressing, somehow everything just tasted better when she fixed it. Margaret loved God, and enjoyed singing his praise, often family would overhear her songs of praise late into the night, spending time communing with just her and the Lord. A witness unto her family, and a dedicated servant to her heavenly father, Margaret was a blessing from above that her family will carry with them forever. Often referred to as a fiesty lil red head, when Margaret said I love you, she meant it and you knew it was from the heart. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gloria Vercher, son in law Willie Powell, stepdaughter Sherry Foster and sisters Ada Kerry, Dollie Kerry and Billie Long. Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are husband Henry; daughter Linda Powell; son David Foster and spouse Shirley; son Roger Bynog and spouse Barbara; daughter Margie Medford and spouse David; son Grady Foster and spouse Renee; brother James “Buddy” Long and spouse Diane; grandchildren Tim Powell, Mechelle Powell, Terry Powell, Michael Foster, Kristin Montenegro, Joey Vercher, Roger Bynog, Jr., Crystal Gilleland, Amber Grady, David R. Medford, Michael Medford, Sharon Lively, Nathan Medford, Spencer Foster, Miranda Brantley and Blake Foster; 32 great great grandchildren with 1 more on the way, as well as numerous extended family and loving friends. A family visitation will be held at the Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. on Friday, October 23, 2020, please note attendees are by invite only, please contact family for viewing date and time.
