Obituary for Lois Ann Treadway Cooper

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116: 15

Lois Ann Treadway Cooper passed peacefully from this life to heavenly home on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. She was at home with her loving family, who gives praise to the Lord for her life and the Godly example she set before them. Lois was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who dedicated her life to serving the Lord by serving others.

Lois was the eighth of ten siblings and was born in Unicoi County, Tennessee. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to Long Island, Virginia, where she attended school and worked hard on the family farm. At the age of 17, Lois gave her life to Christ and determined to follow His plan for her life. After graduating from William Campbell High School in 1961, Lois left Virginia to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. There she met her future husband and love of her life, Everette Cooper. They were married on May 30, 1964.

Throughout their forty-seven years of marriage, Lois worked beside Everette as he pastored churches: Eagle Crest Baptist, Indianapolis, Indiana; Oakland Heights Baptist, Hickory, North Carolina; Spring Bank Baptist, Dalzell, South Carolina; and Faith Baptist, Oakboro, North Carolina. At each of these churches, Lois supported Everette in ministry as she sang in the choir, led the ladies ministry, and taught children’s Sunday School. Lois’s heart was always for children, and through the years she babysat many children in her home. She had a love for those children and strove to make sure each child in her care knew about Jesus, learned songs to sing about Him, and Bible verses to keep in their heart as they grew.

Because of Everette’s failing health, he and Lois retired from the church in Oakboro, and moved to Irving, Texas to be near their daughter and her family. They joined Fundamental Baptist Church, where they served in many capacities. After Everette’s death in 2012, Lois continued to attend the Church, which she loved and represented until the end of her life.

Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everette Duane Cooper; parents, Arthur and Mary Lee (Bailey) Treadway; 5 brothers: Dallas Treadway, James L. Treadway and wife Dean, Ernest Treadway and wife Anita, Guy Treadway, and Fremon Treadway; sister, Williadean Rocchins and husband Jim; and 2 brother in laws: Roy Cooper, and Veldon Smith. She is survived by her loving daughter and son in law, Kim (Cooper) and Dr. Harry Caltagirone; grandson, Harrison Caltagirone; brother, Floyd Treadway and wife Judy; sisters: Beatrice Treadway Morton and husband James, and Lucille Treadway Dudley and husband Dennis; brother in law, David Cooper and wife Becky; 5 sister in laws: Peggy Treadway, Barbara Cardwell Treadway, Phyllis Goodman Treadway, Mary Cooper Smith, and Rene Cooper; 31 nephews and nieces, numerous great nephews and nieces; and numerous other extended family and friends who love and will miss Lois dearly.
