Charlean and family- I am very sorry to hear about Lexxa’s passing. I haven’t seen her in many years, but will always remember that energetic little girl at Susan and Kevin’s wedding. So adorable and sweet. My heart aches for you and I pray that you find peace in your memories.

You had invited me over to your apartment shortly before this post to have a girls night of wine and catching up because John wasn’t home at the time. It was dark when I was driving over to meet you... and that’s when I got a text from you.

You told me that you heard rustling around at your door and people talking. You said that you looked out the peephole to see a man at your door wearing surgical gloves.... squatting down at times. You were terrified that the man was trying to break in. You called the police but you wanted to warn me not to walk up to your complex because it wasn’t safe.

I pulled up to the complex about the time that the officer did. Being nosy, I decided to follow right behind the officer, helping him locate your door. As he rounded the corner, I see him grab his gun and point it at the man wearing surgical gloves. He yelled at the man to raise his arms and put down any weapon he might have. The man put his hands up while his girlfriend frantically explains that they are your neighbors and found a possum rummaging through your trash on your doorstep. They scared it off and then the man put gloves on to put your scattered trash back into the bag for you.

Once our panic subsided, we couldn’t stop laughing for a long time.

When I heard the news yesterday, I couldn’t stop crying. How do I cry so hard for someone who I haven’t seen in such a long time? That’s an easy answer... you have made a lasting impact on my life. You are a listening ear, a loving heart, and a hand to hold when times were hard. You are one of the most intelligent, witty and hysterical people I’ve ever met. You are a loving mother and wife and you are a friend who would be there for others even when you yourself were suffering.

I am a better person for have knowing you. It is not fair that such a bright star should burn out so early. I pray that your family finds comfort in an unbelievably heartbreaking time. No words could begin to express the immeasurable loss that has been suffered.

I love you in this life and the next. Until we meet again, my friend.
