Obituary for Juanita Fay Kirby (Werner)

Juanita Fay Kirby, having lived a long and accomplished life, died Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 92 years of age. She was born in Royse City, Texas to Garland Daniel and Velma (McCord) Werner on Tuesday, March 8, 1927. Juanita was a woman who possessed the prowess to see things through. She was an accomplished woman, whose work earned her a doctorate in Psychiatry which she used to assist the mental health community in wonderful ways. She retired from her profession at 91 years old. She was a pioneer in the development of the Suicide Prevention Hotline. Juanita was a product of the Great Depression. At the age of 12 her family moved to a small farm in Kirkland, Texas before moving to Dallas and getting married at an early age of 16. She had a big heart and adopted four children in addition to having three of her own. She was fiercely independent and very head strong. She certainly lived life on her own terms. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard Kirby, sister Helen Carson, brother Weldon Werner and children Don Higginbotham, LaNona Higginbotham and David Kirby. Left to cherish her memory are son Werner Higginbotham and wife Wendy; son Michael Kirby; son Zackary Kirby; daughter Katelyn Kirby; brother Othel Werner and wife Billie; sister Lottie O’Neal; brother Travis Werner and wife Betty; grandson Adrian Higginbotham and wife Juana; grandson Joseph Higginbotham and wife Shelby; granddaughter Allisa Kirby along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and loving friends. The family will have a memorial service on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 906 Senter Street, Irving, Texas 75060.
