Obituary for Joyce Lou Lange (England)

Joyce Lange
1925-2019

Joyce Lou (England) Lange of Irving Texas was born on August 8, 1925 in Grayson County Texas near the city of Anna, to the late Lee and Cynthia England. She died of natural causes on July 12, 2019. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Johnie of 69 wonderful years; brothers Archie, LB, and Boyd; sisters Kathleen Spencer and Lurline Walker. Joyce is survived by her daughters Donna Millsap of Grand Prairie (husband Bill), Dianne Jensen of Las Vegas (husband Bob), and Debbie Barnes of Dallas (husband Tracy); and sisters Nadine Holinshead, Goldie Gaston, Shirley Davis (husband Jesse). Joyce was the grandmother of six and the great-grandmother of four.
Joyce was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Irving where she was involved in children’s ministry for a number of years and later as an active member of Evergreen senior adult group. Many will fondly recall Joyce’s Bible jokes. She is remembered as being very sweet and that she never said a negative word about anyone. She lived out her favorite Bible verse 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Joyce worked for Southwest Bank and Trust of Irving, which later became Bank of America, in the customer service department where she helped many customers balance their accounts. She retired in 1989. She was a talented artist especially fond of painting landscapes and animals. She loved music such as the old hymns, big bands of the ‘40s, and smooth crooners like Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and Bing Crosby. She was also a big fan of the Lawrence Welk show.
The family would like to thank MacArthur Hills Assisted Living and Vitas Hospice for their loving care of our mother as her health declined. They made sure she was comfortable, and she was at peace when she went to her eternal home.
Joyce will be buried with her husband Johnie at the DFW National Cemetery in a private ceremony. The family will have a celebration and meal from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on August 10, 2019 at Spring Creek BBQ in Irving at 3514 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062.
