Joni Renee Peterson, age 56, died on Monday, September 16, 2019. Joni was born on January 21, 1963 in Upland, California to Dorothy “Dee” (Mooney) Peterson and Wallace Peterson. Joni woke up every morning singing “Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory Glory!” Joni was fun and loving with her kids and grandkids, outplaying them at Super Mario Brothers and singing Green Acres with them sitting on her knee. Her favorite saying was “I love you more” and her grandchildren caught on to the phrase repeating it often. Joni was also an avid reader and was a fan of the classics, be it classic literature, classic rock, or classical music, everything classic. Joni is preceded in death by her brother Brian Peterson. Left to cherish her memory are her father Wallace and wife Karen; mother Dee Ash and husband Ed; brother Brett Peterson and wife Cathy; sister Kristen Peterson; brother Kory Peterson; children Amber McAvoy and husband Collin, Nancy Martinez and husband Carlos, Zachary Barnett, Katie Adams and husband Cody, Matthew Barnett, Jackson McKinney; grandchildren Lilly, Ascher, Liam, Oliver, Mateo, Sadie; nieces Brittny Torres and husband Jason, Courtny Michel and husband Matthew, Tiffany Hagood and husband Eric, and nephew Jerediah Peterson and wife Taylor; as well as many other extended family and loving friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Church of the Apostles, 322 South MacArthur Blvd., Coppell, TX 75019. An inurnment will immediately follow at Patrick’s Place Columbarium, also located at the church with a reception to follow, food and beverages will be provided.
