Obituary

JOHN LOIS ALLEN
John Lois Allen, 80, passed away on
Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in Irving, Texas.
John was born on December 18, 1939, in
Carthage, Mississippi, to Jesse and Annie
Allen. He graduated from Carthage High
School in 1960 and served several years in
the National Guard. On June 23, 1962, he
married the love of his life, Shay Jones.

John was an entrepreneur who owned
many businesses, including Standard
Waterproofing where he handed over the
reins to his son, John (Bubba), upon
retirement. In addition to his work schedule,
he enjoyed riding and overseeing the daily
activities of the AK Ranch.

John, also known as Papa or Big John, was
a family man. He was blessed to live on
acreage in Irving surrounded by his family,
including horses and his favorite mule.
During his retirement, he remained very
active in sporting and riding events, never
missing an opportunity to be on the sideline
or bleachers supporting his family.

John was preceded in death by his parents,
siblings (Ray, Rudolph, Jane, and Annie
Ruth).

He is survived by his siblings, Helen, Marie,
Murphy, Betty, Sarah, Mary and Faye; wife,
Shay; children, Lynn (her husband, Rex)
and John (his wife, Janna); six
grandchildren, plus bonus grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren and honorary loved
ones David Wyatt McMillan and Donald
Patrick Morgan.
