Obituary for Joan Attaway (Evans)

Joan Attaway, a long time Irving resident was a wonderful gift to both her family and her community. Joan was the "Volunteer Queen" with the American Cancer Society and as a fundraiser for TexasFest benefitting the Irving Community hospital known today as Baylor Scott and White. Joan was a very involved parent and served as president of the PTA at MacArthur High School. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Irving, TX where she served as treasurer, sang in the choir, and rang the bells. Joan was also the school nurse at Farine Elementary School and served for many years on the Dallas Grand Jury. Joan will be affectionately remembered as a mother who expressed great love to her children and was a friend to others in all things. Joan raised three children and would give her life for any of them. She dearly loved her grandkids and great grandkids. Today she is reunited with her husband of 59 years who she has dearly missed. Joan was a beautiful instrument of God's righteousness and He had an amazing reach thru her into the lives of others.
