Obituary for Jen Stephens

Jen Stephens died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 90 years of age. Jen is survived by her son Capt. Rusty Stephens, U.S. Navy, (Ret.) and wife Lani of Colorado Springs, CO; son Mike Stephens and wife Gillian of Dallas, TX; daughter Susan Dirting and husband Jim, of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Sally Stephens Hunt and husband Lowell of Surprise, AZ; grandson Mike Stephens of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter Amy Stephens Burnett and husband John of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter Kristen Dirting Kirby and husband Josh of Dallas, TX; grandson Ryan Dirting and fiancé Mary Greer of Dallas, TX and 5 great-grandchildren, Ada, Henry, Esme, Walter, Molly, Cora and Jack. She was born in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to John George and Marie (Wunsch) Hoffman on Wednesday, October 20, 1929. Jen is reunited in Heaven with the love of her life Jerry Stephens, who passed in July of 2018. In 1950, she and Jerry where married, after which they moved to Irving, TX. The newlywed couple then successfully opened and ran the flooring business Hearthstone Floors, where she worked until retirement in 1983. She was a member of the PEO sisterhood, and a long-time member of the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, where she also sang in the choir. In her spare time, Jen enjoyed doing volunteer work, playing bridge, researching family history, crafts and knitting. Her most beloved time were the times spent traveling with her husband Jerry, visiting Hawaii, Europe, and the spending time with the grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Jen’s life will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, 3650 N. O’Connor Rd. in Irving. A committal service will be on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:30am, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn Creek Pkwy in Dallas.
