Obituary for James Morgan

James Edward Morgan, age 80, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. James was born February 8, 1939 in Humboldt Community, Texas to John R. Morgan and Francis Helen (Collins) Morgan. James was a man whose life was built around two main things, his faith and his family. He adored his church, and he endeavored to serve those around him on a daily basis. James loved his family dearly, and it was important to him that all his family loved and supported one another. He also enjoyed playing golf whenever he had the opportunity and working in his garden. He was especially proud of his home-grown tomatoes and okra. He was always in search of a good deal as long as you could use a “Coopin” (coupon). James was undoubtedly a creature of habit, ate at the same places, vacationed in the same spots, and kept a routine of visiting his parents and sister every couple of weeks. James was a kind and endearing man, who truly was a servant and a living sacrifice that made the world a better place. He will be dearly missed. James is preceded in death by his parents and brother William Morgan. Left to cherish his memory are wife Rachel Morgan; daughter Dr. Janet Glenn and husband Keith; son Jason Morgan and wife Lauren; grandchildren Abby Glenn, Christen Hassan and husband Dr. Ryan, Ian Glenn, Westley Morgan, Claire Morgan; sister Winnona Morgan, special cousin June Bennett; as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, August 30, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, Texas 75061. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Christ Church, 1750 E. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Scottish Rite Hospital and Irving Retired School Personnel Association.
