Obituary for James "Jimmy" Skelton

James “Jimmy” Skelton of Highland Village, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in Irving, Texas. Jimmy was born on November 3,1943 in Bryans Mill, Texas to James Oran Skelton, Sr. and Annie Louise (Chapman) Skelton. He was a true advocate for the National Federation of the Blind. He traveled extensively to conventions promoting and lobbying for rights for the blind. Jimmy spent many volunteer hours teaching computer skills to the handicapped. He was proud of his service to the blind and worked tirelessly for them. Jimmy was recognized as Employee of the Year from the South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind. He never missed an episode of his favorite television programs MASH, Star Trek and Hee Haw. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Kay Skelton; Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory sons James Skelton & wife Eadie; Joe Skelton; brother Charlie Skelton & wife Sandy; Sisters Bylinda McCabe and husband Bill; Vicki Valenta & Husband Pat; Jan Casky and husband Don; grandchildren Steven Lawrence; Kasey Gibson; Michelle Green; Ethan Skelton; Andie Washington; Benjamin Washington; Joey Skelton, Jr.; Trevor Skelton; Cody Skelton; Connor Skelton and five great grandchildren. The family is planning a memorial service at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The National Federation of the Blind.
