Evelyn McCarley died peacefully at the age of 89, on Sunday, August 11, 2019. She was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Henry Alton and Myrtis Belle (Wilkinson) McClurg on Thursday, February 20, 1930. Evelyn worked as a real estate broker in Irving for many years. She was awarded many trips earned through her Tiara sales career, that she and her husband used to travel many places in the United States, including Hawaii, as well as Canada and Germany. When Evelyn was in her 60’s, she decided to go back to school and obtained her Associates Degree and worked as a social worker for the State of Texas. Her family remembers the love and dedication she had for her kids and grandkids, and how she enjoyed books, music, cooking and above any of those the joy she had when eating ice cream. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Charles Henry McCarley, daughter Gloria Jean Sams, granddaughter Angela Jean Cummins, and siblings Genevieve Weidenberner, H.A. McClurg Jr. and Roy McClurg. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Marsha Caraway; son Larry Caraway and wife Cathy; grandson Larry Caraway Jr.; grandson Adam Caraway; great granddaughter Sarah Betsy Cummins; great granddaughter Alice Colleen Caraway; sister Martha Huffmaster and husband Bob; Dottie whom she grew old with, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving.
