Obituary for Dwight Spangler

Dwight Spangler, age 95, died peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2019. He was born in Double Shoals, North Carolina on Saturday, March 1, 1924. Dwight proudly served in the United States Army, prior to WWII. While in the Pacific Theater, he worked as an aircraft mechanic with the United States Marine Corp, participating in the capture and defense of Guam and the Marianas Island. Dwight was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed gun collecting, going to swap meets and auctions. He was a successful entrepreneur, of Spangler Machine Shop, a tool and die shop. Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, wife Esta Spangler, sons Ken Thacker, Charles Thacker and Robert Thacker and brother Thurman Spangler. Left to cherish his memory are son Mike Spangler; son David Thacker and wife Pam; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held 9:30am, Monday, September 23, 2019 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn Creek Pkwy in Dallas. 15 minutes prior to the service, friends and family attending, will begin the processional line up at the cemetery in Lane 3. The family request memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
