Obituary for Dorothy Inez Gallini

Dorothy was born on June 3, 1928 in Irving, Texas, to Fannie and Clarence D. Gallini. Her parents, who were not from Texas, met when both families moved to Irving to farms where they were neighbors. As a young girl Dorothy helped in the fields, played in the gravel pits with Louis, Lorayne and Mary, and when her younger brother, Chuck, was born 7 months after her tenth birthday she took great pleasure in helping care for him.
The fourth child of five, and youngest girl, Dorothy was the tiniest which often led to her being nicknamed “Short Stuff”, “Shorty”, and even “Teeny” by her Uncle L.D.
Family was paramount to Dorothy and she was a loving and loyal daughter, sister, aunt and niece. She was very proud of her family, always celebrating their accomplishments enthusiastically.
Dorothy went to work for Trinity Industries, Inc. in the early fifties as a switchboard operator, and held several positions for over 40 years before her retirement in 1993.
Dorothy made her profession of faith as a young woman and was active at Berean Memorial Church in Irving, First Baptist Church in Irving and Audelia Road Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. Her favorite hymns were Amazing Grace and Great is Thy Faithfulness.
Dorothy never married and spent her life caring for her family and spoiling her seven nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. They all remember quite fondly that when they came to visit, Aunt Dorothy took them the local Five and Dime to buy a toy. Another fond memory is Dorothy taking them to the drive-in movie in their pajamas. Dorothy piled the backseat of her blue Pontiac Catalina with pillows and blankets.
Dorothy’s beloved dog, Lovey, was her life and she loved spoiling her. Dorothy also had two other beloved pet’s, her Schnoodle, Pepper, and her Pomeranian Izzy.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Ellen (Geary) and Clarence Dontie Gallini; brother, Louis Dontie Gallini; sister, Lorayne Gallini Richburg; sister Mary Ellen Gallini Lawless; Brother Charles A. “Chuck” Gallini; and niece Linda Kay Lawless.
