Obituary for Dorotha "Dot" Petty

Dorotha (Dot) Petty passed away October 21, 2020. She was born May 7, 1926 to John N. and Bonnie Ragsdill Wilson, both deceased.
Dorotha and Lonnie L. Petty were married 11/23/1945 in Paris, Texas. Lonnie preceded her in death on May 3, 1998.
Dorotha was a member of Christ Church in Irving, Texas. She also volunteered for Parkland Hospital’s newborn department and Irving ISD’s Mentor program working with elementary school children to improve reading skills.
Dorotha was a graduate of Metropolitan Business School and worked for many years as an Executive Assistant for Johnson & Johnson, Warner Lambert, and four years in the Decorative Center in Dallas, retiring in 1989 from International Paper.
She is survived by a son, Wade Wilson Petty, a daughter Margie Lea Langley and husband, Larry. Grandchildren: Jay Langley and wife Misti, Heather Melendrez and husband Gilbert, Clint Petty, Wesley Petty, Vanessa Petty, Lane Petty, and Wilson Petty. Nine Great Grandchildren: Saxon Bhagat and husband Omar, Gavin Melendez and wife Carol, Sierra and Shea Melendrez, Abigail and Zoe Langley, Caroline and Matthew Petty, and Jaxson Petty. Great-Great Grandson: Oliver Grant Melendez. Nephews: James R. Whiteman of Paris and Robert (Bob) McLendon of Fort Worth. Niece: Bonnie Wafford of Dallas as well as many other Great Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Sisters and Brothers who preceded her in death are: Vera McLendon, Sarah Nell Wilson, Leopal Lambert, Carmen Whiteman, Raymond Wilson,
J. C. Wilson and Avant Wilson who died in infancy.
“Mamadot” was the heart and soul of our family and the glue that held us together. She loved to travel, read, fish, sew, and crochet. She loved her family and friends. She was kindhearted and generous. Our hearts break to say goodbye, though only for a little while. Her passing leaves an enormous hole in our hearts and lives.
A graveside service will begin at 3:00pm, Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Bear Creek Cemetery, 100 Bear Creek Cemetery Rd in Euless, TX where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 52 years. A public viewing will be available 1 hour prior to the service.
