Dave Burgess, age 69, entered Heavens gate on Monday, April 1, 2019. He was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1949 to Jesse Charles and Leona Bell (Woody) Burgess in Dallas, Texas. Dave’s passion was always automobiles, custom cars and hot rods. A little later in life, this passion led him to start Guaranteed Car Care, running it successfully for 17 years. Dave then found his calling in the sales industry, during this time he worked for Classic Chevrolet, Metro Volkswagen and Fred Oakley Auto Group, and for a small time he co-owned and operated Kwik Kar Lube. After retirement, Dave just could not let his love of automobiles go, so he began his own business, Burgess Sales, repairing small engines, which he ran out of his home. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Irving and a member of the El Camino Club. Dave is preceded in death by both parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 15 years, Joyce Burgess; sons Mike Malec (Charlotte), Mark Malec, and Scott Thompson (Dwight Thornton); daughter Nicole D’Alesandro (Vincent); brother Bob Burgess; grandchildren Kaitlen Malec, Hannah Malec, Symara Malec; Brittani Malec; Mikaela Malec, Ava D’Alesandro and Taylor D’Alesandro along with numerous extended family and loving friends. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 211 W. 3rd Street in Irving.

Here's to remembering a dear friend —
On more than one occasion I reiterated to Dave that his honesty and integrity in his businesses was always first class; second to none, in my humble opinion.
As a mentor to me in high school at MacArthur in Irving—as an employee for several years in the early 80's, and a lifelong friend, he will be sorely missed, however, our many memories will be cherished forever.

My condolences to the Burgess family during this difficult time. In the Bible, Jehovah God gives us hope. Acts 24:15 says, “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Revelation 21:4 says, “and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.” Very soon we will see the fulfillment of these promises here on Earth. We hope you find comfort in God’s promises.
