Connie Lynn Burkhart, age 72, was united with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. She was born in Jena, Louisiana to Bill Lane and Hazel Ruth (Allen) Owens on Tuesday, June 3, 1947. Connie, although struggling with mental health issues, would have moments of clarity. During those moments, she would care for her children, praise the Lord, and reference the scripture. The family fondly reminisces on what a cook Connie was during these times. Although her mental health diminished over the years, God’s love for Connie did not, and she has now found peace in her heavenly home forever. Connie had a giving heart and it was not uncommon for her to serve others at a shelter or at a food bank in her spare time. She had a beloved Dachshund named “Cricket” and would find the most joy in watching her children shine a flashlight across the floor and onto the wall and Cricket would chase it every time. Connie enjoyed listening to music especially Captain and Tennille, Sonny and Cher and was a big Hee Haw fan. She made certain her kids where exposed to quality music as well. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, son John Burkhart and sister Reba Owens. Left to cherish her memory are son Derek Burkhart; son Craig Burkhart and wife Sylvia; sister Delinda Ward and husband David; brother Lane Owens; grandchildren Seth, Christian, Olivia, Adrian and Sophia Burkhart as well as numerous extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, 710 Fair Ave in Gainesville, Texas.
