Obituary for Sue Harris

Annie Sue Koontz Harris,86, born in Oklahoma City, daughter of Rev. James Koontz and Ruth Koontz passed away the evening of Saturday, October 31, 2020. Grew up in and around North Texas in several parsonages as her father served small Methodist churches in Bryson, Arcadia Park, and McKinney. Graduated from North Texas University, then married the boy next door, Leonard Harris, in 1954. During the next decade while raising children, she also was a church organist and piano teacher. For her second career after mothering, she went back to school and became a computer programmer for the Irving ISD and then with Preston State Bank. Her third career was after Dad retired from Oilwell Div of US Steel. They moved to Fayetteville AR and started a retirement business growing tomatoes. They traveled extensively throughout their 53 years of marriage, before his death in 2007. Mom was always happiest when planning and taking trips.
She leaves to honor her memory: daughters Lynn (Bob) Gibson, Barbara (Galen) Brosette, Jan (Clint) McLaughlin, and son James (Terri) Harris. 7 grandchildren: David, Bobby, Rebekka, Eric, Shawn, Nathaniel, Landon. 3 Great-grands: Nicole, Blake, Severin. A graveside service will be held 12:00pm, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 South R L Thornton Fwy in Dallas.
