Obituary for Anita Beth Lawrence

Anita Beth Lawrence, age 94, of Irving Texas died September 30, 2020 from complications of lung cancer. Anita was born November 4, 1925 in Weatherford, Texas to Ollie Ray and Lyndall Pickard. She graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas as a mechanical artist. Anita married Billie Ruth Lawrence of Dawson, Texas on August 27, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas. Anita worked for Vought Aircraft as a draft artist, Carrollton Public schools as an art teacher, and Standard Fixture Company of Dallas as a design draft artist.

Anita was a talented artist, leaving many lovely drawings to cherish. Her creativity was evidenced by her design of costumes for the Lively Swingers of Irving. One of her favorite artists was Georgia O’Keefe.

She is preceded in death by her husband Billie Ruth Lawrence; parents, Ollie Ray and Lyndall Pickard; sisters Martha Hamilton of Portland, Oregon and Myra Curlee of Pasadena, Texas.

Anita is survived by son, Ray Lawrence and wife Susan of Irving; grandson, Tim and wife, Caren Lawrence of Irving; granddaughter, Amanda Sanchez and husband, A.J. of Farmersville; son, Don and wife Melissa Lawrence of Plano; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Greg Cottingham of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughter, Jessica Lawrence of McKinney; great-grandchildren J.W. and Caden Lawrence. Other survivors include nieces and nephews.
